You can find out tens of special, little places in Cihangir. Some number of this places are boutique coffee shops, some are cafes with little kitchens and some are family owned cafes – restaurants. People go to these places for brunch, lunch or to meet up with friends to have snacks and delicious coffees.

You can escape from the hectic life of the city to the special garden of this lade-back place. White Mill has a wide selection menu from brunch to dinner for its loyal customers and celebrities. The place is popular with energetic waiters but there are also complaints about the late service.

Avam Kahvesi is famous with 16 different type of Turkish sodas. Cafe services mostly brunch and lunch but you can try it anytime you want. The place has friendly atmosphere, nice decoration and nostalgic musics. The menu has also wide selection of hot drinks.

The word Taksim means; distribution. The Taksim square was originally the point where the main water lines from the north of Istanbul were collected and branched off to other parts of the city. This use for the area was established by Sultan Mahmud I. Additionally, the word “Taksim” can refer to a special improvisational musical form in Turkish classical music that is guided by the Makam system.
Taksim Square is also the location of the Monument of the Republic which was commemorates the 5th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of Turkey in 1923. The Mounment crafted by Pietro Canonica and inaugurated in 1928. The 11 meter high monument portrays the founders of the Turkish Republic, prominent are depictions of Kemal Atatürk, who commissioned the work, his assistant İsmet İnönü, and Fevzi Çakmak.
Finally the square has been an important venue for political protests. Groups from all sides of the political spectrum in Turkey, try to demonstrate in this square in order to use its visibility for the benefit of their cause.
Istanbul is a very crowded city with many kinds of people. This diversity creates a colorful atmosphere. If you are in Taksim and it is a bit early to start partying, you could consider to start drinking in a pub. You can start the night in a cozy place near the tunnel district. You can have some drinks in House Café, Café Pi, Asmalı Pera or at Publico. But if you are more interested to see some traditional drinks and places, you can go to Asmalı mescit or walk to Galata Bridge and have a rakı. And if you are going to drink rakı, it is recommended to try some traditional food with it.
After pre drinks, you can visit Tektekçi for some shots and warm up a little bit. The music and the people drinking outside and dancing will ready you to the night. After midnight, you can go to Küçük Beyoğlu district to go to a bar or go to music halls like Babylon, Indigo, Joly Joker. And finally, if you want a after party, you can go to Machine and dance like crazy!
